Belgium honors Mazak President for contribution to business and development

Yamazaki Mazak President, Tomohisa Yamazaki, has been awarded the Commandeur de l’Ordre de Léopoldâ…ˇin recognition of Mazak’s contribution to Belgium’s business development.

The award, which was made by H.E. Mr Kris Peeters, Vice Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium on behalf of King Philippe, King of the Belgians, is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of Belgium via business activities and continued investment.

Belgium and Yamazaki Mazak have built a deep relationship since Mazak opened its first European office in Belgium in 1975. In 1990, Yamazaki Mazak established the European Parts Centre at its facility near Brussels to provide the quick supply of repair parts to its customers throughout Europe. In March 2015 the facility was expanded to 4,600m2 enabling it to ship 97% of Mazak parts on the same day with more 20,000 parts distributed to customers each month.

Mr Tomohisa Yamazaki is the second member of the Yamazaki family to be honored with an award by Belgium. Mr. Teruyuki Yamazaki, the former president of Yamazaki Mazak was awarded Officier de l’Ordre de Léopold by H.M. the King of the Belgians in 1981.
