An exciting opportunity has arisen in the UK Sales department for an Area Sales Manager for the Midlands Territory. The successful candidate is likely to have a proven sales background, and a proven track record within the metal cutting industry. This is an account management and business development role targeting large end users.
You will be required to be positioned in the respective area and responsible for selling our market leading portfolio of CNC machines across a defined geography, maximising the significant potential of our brand in the market.
Strong written and oral communication skills are essential as is the ability to think innovatively while also having the capacity for detail and planning. You will be a pragmatic & credible individual who will portray a positive image of our Company and products to customers and potential customers.
Reporting to the General Sales Manager, Northern & Midlands Region, the responsibilities will be as follows:
- Developing and maintaining existing business relationships
- Preparing documentation for order processing
- Maintaining existing accounts and creating new accounts
- Defining the correct manufacturing solution to meet the customer’s needs
- Define product along with delivery to meet customer requirements
- Propose / present machine specification along with associated costs
- Apply correct resource to deliver the correct solution - Applications - Service
- Assist with customers justification along with return on investment
- Ensure payment milestones are met
- Ensure the correct documentation is in place and internally agreed
- Work to a Capital Sales Annual Target circa £8 million
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
- Strong sales negotiation skills
- Minimum 3 years sales experience selling within the metal cutting industry
- Previous engineering background & qualifications
- Confident to present & prepare presentations
- Communicate at all levels of the business
- Excellent time management and planning capability
- Motivated / Self Starter
- Ability to identify and open new accounts / opportunities
- Good knowledge of the customer base within the West Midlands region
Desirable criteria:
- Good understanding of the machine tool market
- Experience of CRM systems
- Time served apprenticeship
- Experienced preparing & presenting technical quotations

SPINDLE SERVICE CENTRE MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3) (2 VACANCIES):
Learning how to diagnose, disassemble, repair, and test used machine tool spindles for our European Market. An apprentice in this area will learn the full operations of the section which includes sections such as administration and exports, supply chain handling, testing, inspection, and technical support roles.
MACHINING (LEVEL 3) (3 VACANCIES):
Learning how to set, program, and operate a range of CNC machine tools to produce machine tool components.
Machines include Lathes, Milling, Grinding, Multi-Tasking, 5-axis machines, and Component Inspection.
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3) (4 VACANCIES):
Assemble and test machine tools and their components. Assembling and testing unit assemblies into the completed machine tool using various hand skills and laser-checking equipment.
SPINDLE & SUB ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3): (2 VACANCIES):
Learning how to prepare and test machine tool components (such as spindles, tailstocks, ball screws, magazines, and turrets) before being sent to the assembly lines.
ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3) (4 VACANCIES):
Wire and test machine tools and their components. Working on individual option looms that will be used in the final production of our machine tools, you will then progress to wiring and testing a range of CNC machines, including PLCs, ladder diagrams, and fault-finding before machines go to our customers.
SHEET METAL (LEVEL 3) (3 VACANCIES):
Learning the application of welding, laser cutting, and metal folding to produce machine tool claddings. An apprentice in this area will learn the full skills and operations of a modern sheet metal-producing department.

POWDER PAINT SUPERVISOR (SHEET METAL)
We are currently recruiting for a Supervisor within the Powder Paint area of the Sheet Metal Department. The successful applicant will have experience working within a supervisory role and must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of Powder Paint application.
Job description:
- Setting weekly plans and targets to ensure the team meet the required daily output.
- Report daily on any issues with regards to receiving parts internally and the smooth flow of machines through the Powder line.
- Monitoring and controlling budgets.
- Responsibility for the control of Risk assessments, staff training plan and SDQCP activities.
- Maintenance and control of the quality levels, promoting high standards throughout the team ensuring that we continue to complete machines to the highest quality.
- Ensuring the communication between departments and sections results in an effective supply and smooth flow of machines through to the Modular Assembly area.
- Ensuring Yamazaki Mazak Health, Safety and Environmental rules and procedures are implemented, and information in their departments is up to date and available to staff at all times.
- Promote a positive culture amongst staff by engaging them in health and safety improvements and kaizen initiatives.
