Yamazaki Mazak is the world's largest manufacturer of computer controlled (CNC) metal-cutting machines. With over 200 different models, the Mazak product range includes CNC lathes, machining centres, multi-tasking machines and flexible manufacturing systems as well as laser processing machines.
Our machines make everything from the gearbox in a helicopter to the nose cone on a Formula 1 car, designer belt buckles, ski boots and everything in between. Our mission is to develop original products and push the boundaries and capabilities of machining.

Yamazaki Mazak is currently recruiting its next batch of apprentices. A Mazak apprenticeship is a chance to join the world leader in machine tools and a significant investment in both your future and the future of the organisation.
You'll have access to college education alongside hands-on involvement in the workplace with experienced members of staff that are willing to pass their knowledge on to the next generation. From the beginning of your apprenticeship, you will be paid a competitive apprenticeship salary and will obtain nationally recognised qualifications. Upon successful completion, there is also the possibility of furthering your education at the next level.
Whether you're currently at GCSE or A-Level, have left education and looking for an exciting new challenge, a Mazak apprenticeship can provide you with the opportunity to develop a career in a number of different disciplines. With GCSE entry requirements of grades 4 in English and Science, and a grade 5 in Maths, we are currently offering 3 to 4 year apprenticeships in the following areas:
LOGISTICS (LEVEL 3):
Working within either our Logistics or Spindle Service teams, you will be involved with inventory management and the planning of production using computer systems.
As a Logistics Apprentice, the role will include a development programme that will provide an introduction to all aspects of inventory management; gradually exposing you to Mazak’s business management systems and Logistics support activities. In time you will become equipped with the learning and knowledge to improve our Logistics processes.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (LEVEL 3):
Basic sales administration, learning sales administration whist undertaking the role. To assist with processing invoices, and undertake any other financial responsibilities as required by the role. The candidate will require excellent communication skills, previous experience of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word etc…), understanding of Mazak product range (preferred but not essential), the ability to learn new processes quickly, be A Level or similar qualifications.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION – HR, LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT (LEVEL 3):
Basic administration such as filing, safeguarding of confidential information, producing pre-produced mail merged letters and distribution, entering basic information onto HR System. Taking accurate review/meeting notes. Communicate basic HR information to colleagues. Monitors and orders stationery. Possesses good IT Skills
The candidate will require excellent communication skills, previous experience of Microsoft Office products would be an advantage.
MACHINING (LEVEL 3):
Learning how to set, program and operate a range of CNC machine tools to produce machine tool components.
Machines include: Lathes, Milling, Grinding, Multi-Tasking, 5 axis machines and Component Inspection.
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY (LEVEL 3):
Assemble and test machine tools and their components. Assembling and testing unit assemblies into the completed machine tool using various hand skills and laser checking equipment.
SHEET METAL (LEVEL 3):
Learning the application of welding, laser cutting and metal folding to produce machine tool claddings. An apprentice in this area will learn the full skills and operations of a modern sheet metal producing department.
