Powering off your machines

Dear Customer,

If in the event you have planned to turn off your Mazak machine for any length of time, we would like to suggest the machine is backed up, just in case there is a failure of the backup battery.

The battery life depends on the data that is held within the system.

It is quite important to follow some simple rules in order to prevent any problems when you start up production again in the near future.

  • Ensure the machine is parked in the Home position prior to shut down.
  • Create a backup of the data in the machine and store in a safe place.
  • The type of data to save is: Programs, tooling information and Parameters. These are critical data that we need in order to recover the machine in the event of a failure. This backup is done by using the DATA-IO menu.
  • The procedure for the backup is in the operating manual for the NC.
  • Some of the drive units on machines have individual battery backup. If you experience low battery alarms you should replace the battery on the unit.
  • Some of the older NC systems have individual batteries and if you experienced low battery alarms the batteries should be replaced.

If you are unsure of what to do then please contact your local Mazak office who will be available to support you.
